The Mechanics Of Music Management’ is a training programme from MMF delivered by CMU Insights and led by Chris Cooke and Marcus O’Dair. A series of six webinars exploring best practice and current trends in artist management, together these sessions provide a comprehensive guide to artist revenue streams and business models, music rights and record deals, fanbase building and direct-to-fan relationships, and explain where the manager fits in with each of these strands of the business.

Where do music publishers fit into your artist’s business?

How can artists get the most out of the songwriting side of their businesses? Collecting societies PRS and MCPS actually manage many of a songwriter’s revenue streams, but music publishers can nevertheless bring significant value to the table creatively, commercially and administratively. This session looks at the songs business, the different ways songwriters can work with music publishers, and the pros and cons of each approach. It also explores why the societies are more powerful on this side of the industry, and looks at the relationship between those societies and songwriters and publishers.
