Wondering how to take your vocal recordings to the next level? In this course, Isabelle Banos will walk you through her process of recording professional quality vocals. She’ll break down key concepts, show you the gear she uses, and demonstrate how to setup a great vocal recording session. You’ll learn to hear the signs of good quality recordings versus not so good ones, and how you can achieve pro results every time.

About our teachers:

J is an audiovisual artist and mentor based in Brooklyn. A proud recipient of a 2016 3Arts Award, she uses music, storytelling, and visuals to translate and transform her worldview. She has created hundreds of videos and songs, mainly solo, in several different installations over the past decade. J explores difficult emotions, universal themes, and human connection through soundscapes, movement, color, and design. Her music has been licensed on several international TV shows, her voice has been featured in multiple national commercial jingles, and her music videos have been viewed by millions. She has performed in professional music and theatre venues across the U.S. as an actor and a musician, and she has helped over 15,000 self-proclaimed non-musicians write their own songs in under an hour through three separate in-school outreach programs. She is currently developing an audiovisual storytelling experience that integrates reconnection with the body and her deep love of nature.

Isabelle Banos is a Montreal-based producer, songwriter and a founding member of the alternative pop band Caveboy. She has performed across Canada, showcased throughout the U.S., and participated in major music conferences all over the world. Her music has appeared in TV shows (Maid, Orange is the New Black), movies (Happiest Season, The New Romantic) and featured in editorial playlists on all major streaming platforms (New Music Friday, Fresh Finds). Her passion for empowerment through education has led her to become a YouTuber for LANDR, as well as a regular volunteer for the Montreal chapter of Rock Camp For Girls. In April 2021, she opened her own inclusive studio space, Chez Ballsy, in Montreal.

Marisa Ewing is an audio engineer, sound designer, composer, and musician with experience as a recording and mixing engineer for music, film, and video games. Marisa holds a BA in audio production and another in music with a specialization in film and game sound. She is the founder and owner of Hemlock Creek Productions, a boutique post production audio studio based in Chicago, IL that specializes in dialogue editing, mixing, mastering, and sound design.
