Her music has appeared in TV shows (Maid\, Orange is the New Black)\, movies (Happiest Season\, The New Romantic) and featured in editorial playlists on all major streaming platforms (New Music Friday\, Fresh Finds). Her passion for empowerment through education has led her to become a YouTuber for LANDR\, as well as a regular volunteer for the Montreal chapter of Rock Camp For Girls. She has worked on projects ranging from Howard Wiley’s 2nd Line\, Afro-Cuban jazz\, Whitney Houston\, and MC Hammer\, to soundtracks for independent films and TV postwork on ad campaigns such as Levi’s and Taco Bell. Within the Recording Academy leadership\, Mary Ann served on the National Board of Trustees and led the San Francisco Board as Chapter President. As an educator\, Mary Ann taught studio recording\, production\, entertainment business\, and audio post-production at Expression College and San Francisco State University. She especially enjoys working with emerging artists and engineers and the energy they bring to the evolving field of music. Mary Ann also grew up playing classical violin and for many years\, has participated in Traditional Mexican Son and classical African music ensembles. She holds a BA in Music from the University of California\, Berkeley\, and a Masters in Education from the University of San Francisco.

Sessions are open to all genders and are free with a Control Room Key. \nA﻿bout the teacher: \nJ is an audiovisual artist and mentor based in Brooklyn. A proud recipient of a 2016 3Arts Award\, she uses music\, storytelling\, and visuals to translate and transform her worldview. She has created hundreds of videos and songs\, mainly solo\, in several different installations over the past decade. J explores difficult emotions\, universal themes\, and human connection through soundscapes\, movement\, color\, and design. Her music has been licensed on several international TV shows\, her voice has been featured in multiple national commercial jingles\, and her music videos have been viewed by millions. She has performed in professional music and theatre venues across the U.S. as an actor and a musician\, and she has helped over 15\,000 self-proclaimed non-musicians write their own songs in under an hour through three separate in-school outreach programs. She is currently developing an audiovisual storytelling experience that integrates reconnection with the body and her deep love of nature.

Sign-up to guarantee your spot as space is very limited! \nA﻿bout our member event audio professionals: \nMadre Guía (she/they) is an interdisciplinary artist from Lenapehoking land/The Bronx\, New York currently based in Huichin-Ohlone land/Oakland\, CA. She works with movement and dance music production to create rhythms rooted in the Afro-Caribbean diasporic experience that offer a somatic roadmap towards healing. Her work celebrates and uplifts Black Queer innovation in dance music while also challenging the oppressive systems that are inherently antithetical to Black liberation. \nJiahui Li is a sound designer and audio engineer. Born in China and living in the US since 2016\, Jiahui is influenced by Eastern and Western art and philosophy. As an undergraduate student majoring in Music Technology and Applied Composition at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music\, Jiahui is developing a diverse skill set\, not only in classical composition training\, but also in sound design\, audio editing\, mixing and recording. Jiahui is passionate about creating music and audio content for film and video games. She believes storytelling and detail-oriented sound design and music can express emotions beyond language and imagery. She teaches commercial and classical music courses and is currently on faculty with Lipscomb University and SAE Institute’s Nashville campus. She is a core faculty member with Omni Sound Project and is a regular guest teacher with Thinking Outside the Blocks\, with whom she created a “Rhythm For Songwriters” course. A multi-instrumentalist with a love for producing and songwriting\, Lisa collaborates on music projects both in the studio and onstage. Lisa received a Master of Music Theory with a pedagogy emphasis from Michigan State University and a Bachelor of Composition and Music Theory\, also from MSU.

Her music has appeared in TV shows (Maid\, Orange is the New Black)\, movies (Happiest Season\, The New Romantic) and featured in editorial playlists on all major streaming platforms (New Music Friday\, Fresh Finds). Her passion for empowerment through education has led her to become a YouTuber for LANDR\, as well as a regular volunteer for the Montreal chapter of Rock Camp For Girls. In April 2021\, she opened her own inclusive studio space\, Chez Ballsy\, in Montreal.
