DESCRIPTION:Join core faculty member Lisa Kacos in a three hour workshop to learn how to communicate  musical fundamentals when producing music.\n\n\nIn the recording studio\, it can be a challenge to know how to describe your musical vision without a basic understanding of music theory. Omni core faculty member Lisa Kacos will lead a three hour workshop designed to help you learn how to clearly communicate music theory fundamentals while recording yourself or others. \nIn the first half of the workshop\, class participants will explore the role of a music producer and the common conversations taking place within the studio. Students will then delve into the concepts of rhythm\, melody\, and harmony and how they work together to create different genres of music. \nThe second half of the workshop will include a collaborative practice where participants will produce real songs using their new-found music theory skills. \nWe’ll wrap up the workshop with a very important discussion of how to utilize DistroKid to maximize your producing credit and make sure that the music you’re creating is heard!(Plus\, all attendees will receive 30% off your first year of membership.) \nOmni Online classes are open to all genders. This workshop is appropriate for those with some basic experience recording music and sound\, but adventurous beginners are welcome. Class attendance is limited to allow for participation. \nAbout the teacher: \nLisa Kacos is an artist and educator from Grand Rapids\, MI and currently residing in Nashville\, TN. She is a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who writes and records her own music and also collaborates with other artists\, both live and in the studio. She has performed with groups such as Outer Vibe\, Amy Ray of The Indigo Girls\, Samuel Herb\, and Violet LaVelle. Lisa teaches workshops and classes centered around music production and rhythm for songwriters. Lisa received a Master of Music Theory with a pedagogy emphasis from Michigan State University and a Bachelor of Composition and Music Theory\, also from MSU. She has taught at SAE Institute – Nashville\, MSU\, and Grand Rapids Community College. \nThis event is sponsored by DistroKid. Omni core faculty member Lisa Kacos will lead a three hour workshop designed to help you learn how to clearly communicate music theory fundamentals while recording yourself or others. \nIn the first half of the workshop\, class participants will explore the role of a music producer and the common conversations taking place within the studio. Students will then delve into the concepts of rhythm\, melody\, and harmony and how they work together to create different genres of music. \nThe second half of the workshop will include a collaborative practice where participants will produce real songs using their new-found music theory skills. \nWe’ll wrap up the workshop with a very important discussion of how to utilize DistroKid to maximize your producing credit and make sure that the music you’re creating is heard! \nOmni Online classes are open to all genders. This workshop is appropriate for those with some basic experience recording music and sound\, but adventurous beginners are welcome. Class attendance is limited to allow for participation. \nAbout the teacher: \nLisa Kacos is an artist and educator from Grand Rapids\, MI and currently residing in Nashville\, TN. She is a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who writes and records her own music and also collaborates with other artists\, both live and in the studio. She has performed with groups such as Outer Vibe\, Amy Ray of The Indigo Girls\, Samuel Herb\, and Violet LaVelle. Lisa teaches workshops and classes centered around music production and rhythm for songwriters. Lisa received a Master of Music Theory with a pedagogy emphasis from Michigan State University and a Bachelor of Composition and Music Theory\, also from MSU. She has taught at SAE Institute – Nashville\, MSU\, and Grand Rapids Community College. \nThis event is sponsored by DistroKid. Most recently\, she is the Social Media & Community Manager for EQ Exchange\, a web3 music startup co-owned by Ashanti.  \nladidai currently resides between Los Angeles\, CA and New York\, NY.  \n—– \nTavonia Evans is a 47 year old native of New York and “mompreneur” with a 20+ year background in technology. She is a 4x founder\, Engineer\, Designer\, Data Scientist\, and she founded the decentralized cryptocurrency Guapcoin. Tavonia’s vision is to use Guapcoin for the economic empowerment of black people and especially black-owned businesses.  \nNot new to the world of startups\, Tavonia made the transition into the world of Blockchain in 2016 as a result of identifying Cryptocurrency as a tool that could stimulate economic growth and financial freedom within the Black community. She is one of the first Black women heralded as being the founder and lead engineer in developing a coin with such a mission within the Black community. She was featured in Glamour Magazine’s May 2018 “Women in Crypto”\, as a crypto expert to CNN\, Complex TV\, CNBC\, Marie Claire\, Blavity\, Ozy – as well as other media publications for her work in the space.  \nSince 2017\, she has been an expert global voice for blockchain\, and has spoken on diversity and the impact of blockchain technology in a variety of forums. She has made it her mission to educate both minorities & women on the potential of cryptocurrency to liberate the masses from poverty while providing greater access to funding. \n—————– \nFinessed Media is a New York City based start-up focused on developing content in all things music entrepreneurship and creation. In February alone\, more than a dozen Studio One Meetups took place all over the world\, with so many more in the making. It became very clear that Studio One is much more than just a software for our users – It is a passion that brings people together. \n \nWherever possible\, PreSonus developers\, employees\, artists and developers participated in these Meetups as well. We are continuously striving to remove communication barriers between the company and our supporters\, and we believe that Studio One Meetups are one of the best ways we have to achieve that. \n \nUnfortunately\, our efforts came to a grinding halt in early March\, as it became more and more apparent that we would be dealing with a pandemic on an unprecedented global scale. Thankfully\, people all over the world are taking responsibility by staying home and isolating themselves!
