Born and raised on the island of Oahu\, Hawaii to parents of Jamaican and Hawaiian decent\, she then moved to Las Vegas\, NV at age 19. Early in her career she was signed to CTBC Music Group\, and was known for singing background vocals for the Grammy Winning Reggae Band Morgan Heritage on 7 consecutive world tours. Tiana Shai has since went on to write songs for artists of all genres all over the world from Hawaii all the way to the UK. She is hands on when it comes to creating all the way from the writing to the mixing and mastering. She released several singles in 2019 & 2021 and recently dropped a popular EP titled 2:00 am in November 2021\, produced\, written\, recorded and arranged by Tiana herself and King Gas in Las Vegas. Within the Recording Academy leadership\, Mary Ann served on the National Board of Trustees and led the San Francisco Board as Chapter President. As an educator\, Mary Ann has taught studio recording\, production\, entertainment business and audio post production at Expression College and at San Francisco State University. She especially enjoys working with emerging artists and engineers and the energy they bring to the evolving field of music. Mary Ann also grew up playing classical violin and for many years has participated in Traditional Mexican Son and classical African music ensembles. She holds a BA Music from University of California\, Berkeley\, and a Masters in Education from University of San Francisco.
