DESCRIPTION:The Music Encoding Conference is the annual meeting of the Music Encoding Initiative (MEI) community and all who are interested in the digital representation of music. This cross-disciplinary venue is open to and brings together members from various encoding\, analysis\, and music research communities\, including musicologists\, theorists\, librarians\, technologists\, music scholars\, teachers\, and students\, and provides an opportunity for learning and engaging with and from each other. \nMusic encoding is a critical component for fields and areas of study including computational or digital musicology\, digital editions\, symbolic music information retrieval\, digital libraries\, digital pedagogy\, or the wider music industry.  \nThe Music Encoding Conference has emerged as the foremost international forum where researchers and practitioners from across these varied fields can meet and explore new developments in music encoding and its use. Born in Nigeria and of Lebanese descent\, Laughta’s multi- cultural background paints her unique style\, however it’s her wordplay and flow levels that’s got the scene pushing for her. She is also the COO of @womeninctrl. \nWith her critically-acclaimed single “Flex” making BBC R1Xtra’s ‘TOTW‘ & Spotify’s Grime Shutdown playlist at #4\, and Ghost making Kiss Fresh playlist. \n—- \nAzar is a producer/musician/artist \,based out of the suburbs of New Jersey. He is a versatile beat maker\, who’s made his way into the industry producing for a number of artists and rappers. azar! is most known for his work with Trevor Spitta\, TJ Porter\, Hass Irv\, Casanova\, Chinese Kitty\, Lite Fortunato \, & many more. \n—- \nElectronic artist Shine Robbins makes vibrant and surreal music that ranges from distorted and heavy to enigmatic and ethereal. Inspired by acts like OutKast\, Frank Ocean\, Massive Attack\, Kanye West\, and Jane’s Addiction\, his emotionally and sonically rich songs share the forward-thinking visions of his influences. Shine Robbins’ music is a product of the internet\, a kaleidoscopic blend of sounds that defies pigeonholing and invites audiences to experience something new. On May 13th\, 2022 he released his debut EP ‘softworld.’ \n—- \nAlianna “The Alien” is a rising Puerto Rican artist from Florida\, known most for her smooth\, relaxing fusions of Alt-R&B/Soul and Lofi Hip-Hop\, moderately spiced with Jazz. \nAlianna grew up singing in church with a large\, creatively-gifted family\, where she developed an early passion for the arts and performing\, leading to the start of her independent career at 18.  \nMost recently in April 2022\, Alianna was featured in an article on okayplayer.\, “10 TikTok Instrumentalists & Producers You Should Follow Right Now”\, highlighting the finger-drumming beat videos she creates using her MPC. \n——– \nFinessed Media is a New York City based start-up focused on developing content in all things music entrepreneurship and creation. The company was founded in January 2020 with the mission to provide resources for a worldwide audience interested in making it in the music industry in any capacity. \nOur contributors spotlight music and stories of artists\, A&R reps\, DJs\, music tech executives\, radio hosts\, and more to speak on their experiences and share insight for others to learn from.
